I installed Ubuntu to my Lenovo 3000 V200. Everything works until I found out that my headphone jack is not working. I tried googling the fix that leads me to this link:
http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-1600996.html
then following this:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Audio/UpgradingAlsa/DKMS
SUCCESS!! I can use my headphones now 🙂

I am using KDE with
Distributor ID: Ubuntu
Description: Ubuntu 11.10
Release: 11.10
Codename: oneiric
however above solution didnt work on my Lenovo 300 v200.
Below mentioned solution from http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1859395&page=2
worked for me:-
I’m on a Lenovo 3000 V200.
Just updated to 11.10 I didn’t have the front connection listed thus no sound in my headphones no matter what I did.
Got the front-option by adding this line
options snd-hda-intel model=generic to the
/etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf
Unfortunately the auto-function cutting the sound to the speakers when connecting headphones is now gone – work-around is to choose front/headphones as the output in sound config.
It seems to be a problem with the driver for hda Intel cards – hope it gets fixed soon.
thanks for sharing that link Arshad…
